I am currently a Ph.D. student in ethnomusicology at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. My research interests include Hmong music, relationships between music and language, and popular music. I maintain a Hmong music research website and blog at www.poss.ws.
I am also Adjunct Professor of Music at Ashland University and a lecturer in the school of music at Ohio State University where I teach classes on a variety of topics. Recent classes include: world music, African-American music, and the history of rock and roll.
I play jazz piano around Columbus and am currently director of music at Church of the Saviour – United Methodist in Westerville, Ohio. I also enjoy cooking, exploring the far reaches of central Ohio, and learning archaic banjo styles.
